My periods are like clockwork and usually last about 5 days.My last period on the 30th of July .Instead of?

it ending as usual on the 4th of August,I am still bleeding .It is actually spotting but continuous .Like a brownish dried blood.Is this the first sign of menopause.I am 44 and have had no other symptoms.Except for some weight gain in the last few months.This is the most annoying thing.Is it always like this.
