Why does lauric acid stick to the temperature probe?
Both lauric and stearic acids are insoluble in water. Although lauric acid will melt at the temperature of hot water. it does have an attraction to the gl on thermometers. Detergent or soap and hot water will emulsify these fatty acids so that they stop sticking to the gl.
