I need help with a Crochet Pattern. Help?

The pattern is a little badly written. You're not starting row 2 in the middle of the pattern. You're using row two of the original pattern for the instructions. Then the row 1 refers to the first row of the waist shaping. So you have row 1 that you started with and then row one of the the waist shaping part. In reading back over this, I don't know if I've explained it any better than the pattern did, but I hope it makes sense!
