Sallie Mae told me they don't ever grant deferments...?

A few months after I began repaying on my mive loans, I thought it might be a good idea to have them deferred for maybe a year so that I could save some money. I am committed to repaying the loans, but Sallie Mae has been difficult (to put it nicely) to work with. They even accused me of identity theft after my dad (co-signer) decided that he didn't want to have his name attached to everything.
